In Loving Memory of

Leonard “Leo” “Lenny” Igberaese

December 13, 1998 – November 3, 2025

On Monday, November 3, 2025, Leonard Igberaese passed away to return home to be with the everlasting and ever-loving God and his father.

Born on December 13, 1998, Leonard was the youngest son in a proud Nigerian family. He was a devoted son, brother, cousin, and friend. Known as Leo to his friends and Lenny to his family, he was loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Leonard was deeply grateful for his mother, Faith Igberaese, whose hard work, sacrifice, and perseverance opened doors of opportunity for him. He often expressed his pride and gratitude for her unwavering love and dedication, which inspired him to strive higher and dream bigger.

A proud graduate of Cherokee Trail High School (Class of 2017), Leonard went on to attend the Colorado School of Mines, where he earned both a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master’s degree in Biomechanics. During his time at Mines, Leonard was a dynamic and engaged leader. He was an active member of numerous organizations, including the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), the Multicultural Engineering Program (MEP), and many more.

After graduating, Leonard built a promising career as a Mechanical Design Engineer at Mesa Labs, where his intelligence, creativity, and passion for innovation made a lasting impression on colleagues and mentors alike. He was also a beloved tutor, always patient, encouraging, and eager to help others reach their full potential.

Although his time with us was cut far too short, Leonard lived with authenticity, compassion, and a deep commitment to others. He was always the dependable friend and family member you could count on in any time of need. He had a gift for making friends wherever he went and for lighting up any room he entered. The life of the dance floor, Leonard moved through the world unbothered by norms and proud of his uniqueness.

Wise beyond his years, Leonard had a natural ability to uplift others with his compassion, humor, and insight. His laugh was contagious, his smile unforgettable, and his sense of humor unmatched. He proudly held the title of Igberaese Family Settlers of Catan Champion and reigned supreme at the Igberaese Annual Ocean Olympics. He was always ready for some friendly competition and good laughter.

Leonard was in the midst of creating a life he loved, embracing his independence and freedom as he began carving his own path. A true creative spirit, he was many things: an old soul, a rapper, an artist, and a visionary. Those who knew him often described their encounters as life-changing.

Lenny’s big heart was grounded in practicality yet driven by love. His legacy lives on through his music, his art, his accomplishments, and the countless lives he touched. He has left a lasting message to encourage others to live boldly, authentically, and unapologetically as their truest selves.

Leonard is survived by his mother, Faith Igberaese; his older brothers, Benedict and Edmund Igberaese; his aunts and uncles, Chris Mammah, Pete Webster, Julian Uzzorh, and Mercy Mammah; his cousins, Ade and Bawo Popoola, Tessy, Deborah, and Fred Mammah; along many extended family members across the United States, England, and Nigeria.
